315 To Nowhere

I saw Julian last week and he asked me how 315 went. I needed further explanation to which he reminded me that I was attempting a 315# bench press. Telling him that the day and time went without an attempt, spotters, etc. he started chastising me for not getting an attempt up, making excuses about a spotter, even saying he will come and spot if need be. While I didn't attempt a full 315, my decision to scrap my attempt came a few days earlier during "test run" when I positioned a safety bar near a weak point in the bench press, and couldn't move the bar an inch. I still have a long way to go, but I will get to that goal as quickly and safely as possible. I thank Julian for the motivation and support to be there. That is one of the reasons we are doing this club. To help motivate and push us to be the best we can.

See you all later...

Some More Club Thoughts

Thanks for the tip Vanessa, I had the same problem when I was repping 315 the other day. We don't want to be losing any club members this year.

On another note, it has been brought to my attention that some more goals/reasons for The Club should be mentioned, and I am compiling those reasons as we speak.

Talk to you guys later.

Near Miss

During this morning's chest workout, I had a near miss. While performing decline presses, I did not have a firm grip on the dumbbell in my left hand and it went flight toward my head. it was a close call. Let that be a lesson to all club members... check your grip!

Oh, and Colin and I finally starting keeping a training log. Baselines were established today. I now wish I had set the bar a bit lower this morning.

Good luck

Vanessa's 2008 Workout Goals

1--Bench press 80 lbs 12 times?
2--Drop 8 lbs of fat but replace it with 8 lbs of muscle (and hopefully a 6-pack)
3--Body fat down to about 10-12%
4--Run the HB 1/2 marathon (Feb), the Camp Pendleton mud run (June), and the Long Beacch Marathon (Oct)

these are my goals so far, i hope to be adding more as i cross others off the list.

Also, watching American Gladiators last night inspired me to encourage this group to send at least one of our members to an AG tryout. Colin and i discussed it this morning and so far he's the nominee.

Good Luck to all!
